Yngwie Malmsteen is a Heavy metal act. Their sound grew out of Barriemore Barlow, Manowar, Niccolò Paganini, Johann Sebastian Bach and Jimi Hendrix. They run in the same orbit as Alcatrazz, Vinnie Moore, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Paul Gilbert, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Dactylis Glomerata, Johan Reinholdz, Dethklok, China and Stratovarius, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation.
