Phantom Planet is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1994. The band consists of Alex Greenwald, Darren Robinson, Sam Farrar, and Andrew Parker (drums). The band is best known for their track "California", which became the theme song for the TV series The O.C.. Jason Schwartzman, now primarily an actor, was a founding member of the band, serving as the band's drummer until 2003.

He has also provided remixes for Donna Summer, Kylie Minogue, Whitney Houston, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Yoko Ono, Pink, Tori Amos, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Book of Love, Soft Cell, Duran Duran and Mariah Carey, among others. He was also behind the tribal house record label Star 69 and was a frequent producer of the label's releases.

Badfinger were a British rock band formed in Swansea in 1961. Their best-known lineup consisted of Welshmen Pete Ham, Mike Gibbins (drums), and Englishmen Tom Evans (bass), and Joey Molland. Initially known as the Iveys, the band renamed themselves Badfinger, after the working title for the Beatles' 1967 song "With a Little Help from My Friends". From 1968 to 1973, Badfinger recorded five albums for Apple Records and toured extensively before they became embroiled in the chaos of Apple's dissolution.
