YG is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of BlocBoy JB, G-Eazy, Cozz, Saweetie and Lil Yachty. Those roots explain a lot about how YG arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, Mustard, 2 Chainz and E-40, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Iggy Azalea, Bhad Bhabie, Jeezy, Rich Homie Quan and Drake, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 78 connections around YG, reaching back through BlocBoy JB and forward to Iggy Azalea. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
