Baroness

Baroness is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Converge, High on Fire, Opeth, Coheed and Cambria and Mastodon. Those roots explain a lot about how Baroness arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Cult of Luna, Between the Buried and Me, Haken, Gojira and Rosetta, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Kvelertak, Mastodon, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God and Sheer Mag, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 30 connections around Baroness, reaching back through Converge and forward to Kvelertak. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
