Meshuggah is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Don Caballero, The Almost, Cancer, Zeal & Ardor and Alchemist. Those roots explain a lot about how Meshuggah arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Gojira, Textures, Between the Buried and Me, Haken and Tool, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Rammstein, All Hope Is Gone, Breach, Decapitated and Arch Enemy, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 52 connections around Meshuggah, reaching back through Don Caballero and forward to Rammstein. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
