Blind Melon is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Axl Rose, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Neil Young and Lenny Kravitz. Those roots explain a lot about how Blind Melon arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Mother Love Bone, Days of the New, Screaming Trees, Temple of the Dog and Collective Soul, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Revis, AWOLNATION and Candlebox, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 40 connections around Blind Melon, reaching back through Axl Rose and forward to Revis. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
