◇ image via WikipediaMudhoney
Mudhoney is a Rap act. Their sound grew out of Spacemen 3, Wipers, Dinosaur Jr., Neil Young and Black Flag. Those roots explain a lot about how Mudhoney arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Green River, Screaming Trees, Mother Love Bone, Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr., sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, The Vaselines and Mogwai, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 57 connections around Mudhoney, reaching back through Spacemen 3 and forward to Foo Fighters.
