Alternative rockFolkPop

Dido is a Alternative rock and Folk act. Their catalogue also touches Pop. Their sound grew out of Citizen Cope, Rollo Armstrong, Greg Kurstin, Ibrahim Ferrer and Helen Stellar. Those roots explain a lot about how Dido arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Natalie Imbruglia, Jewel, KT Tunstall, Melanie C and James Blunt, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Deep Dish, Rhythms Del Mundo, Darren Tate, Sharam and Murray Head, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 44 connections around Dido, reaching back through Citizen Cope and forward to Deep Dish. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
