Lowell George

Lowell George is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Les McCann and Mose Allison. Those roots explain a lot about how Lowell George arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Bobby Charles, Joan Armatrading, Van Morrison, Delaney & Bonnie and Delbert McClinton, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Nolan Porter, Randy Newman, The Chicks, Lucius and Anders Osborne, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 35 connections around Lowell George, reaching back through Les McCann and forward to Nolan Porter. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
