Luca Prodan is a Reggae act. Their sound grew out of Wire, Joy Division, Joe Jackson, Graham Parker and Elvis Costello. Those roots explain a lot about how Luca Prodan arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, Rosario Bléfari, Boom Boom Kid, Juana Molina and Mercedes Sosa, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Sumo and Divididos, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around Luca Prodan, reaching back through Wire and forward to Sumo. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
