Magic! is a Ska act. Their sound grew out of Iron Butterfly, Iyaz, David Banner and The Police. Those roots explain a lot about how Magic! arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Nico & Vinz, Rixton, Onze:20, Maroon 5 and Sean Kingston, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Chris Brown, Justin Nozuka, Marc Anthony, Wyclef Jean and Maroon 5, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 45 connections around Magic!, reaching back through Iron Butterfly and forward to Chris Brown.
