Mirah

Mirah is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of The Microphones, Mount Eerie, Sinéad O'Connor, Cyndi Lauper and Cat Stevens. Those roots explain a lot about how Mirah arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Laura Veirs, Hop Along, Ani DiFranco, Mates of State and Maria Taylor, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Calvin Johnson, The Microphones, Mount Eerie, Half Waif and Palehound, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 39 connections around Mirah, reaching back through The Microphones and forward to Calvin Johnson. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
