Neu! is a Ambient and Electronic act. Their catalogue also touches Industrial and Psychedelic rock. Their sound grew out of Kraftwerk, Brian Eno and Henning Schmitz. Those roots explain a lot about how Neu! arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Amon Düül II, Holger Czukay, Psychic TV, Public Service Broadcasting and Kraan, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Polysics, Salvatore, Steve Shelley, Sunflower Bean and Chrome, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 48 connections around Neu!, reaching back through Kraftwerk and forward to Polysics. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
