NRBQ is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Flaco Jiménez, Billy Stewart, Eddie Cochran, Sun Ra and Carl Perkins. Those roots explain a lot about how NRBQ arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dave Edmunds, Faces, Bobby Charles, Bo Diddley and Clarence Carter, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into R.E.M., Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello and Keith Richards, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 44 connections around NRBQ, reaching back through Flaco Jiménez and forward to R.E.M.. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
