Peter Buck is a Rap act. Their sound grew out of Nando Reis, Drivin' N' Cryin', Youssou N’Dour, Warren Zevon and Robert Fripp. Those roots explain a lot about how Peter Buck arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Mike Mills, R.E.M. and Jack Irons, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Pete Yorn, Tired Pony, Uncle Tupelo, Mad Season and The Jayhawks, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 22 connections around Peter Buck, reaching back through Nando Reis and forward to Pete Yorn.
