Rahzel is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Peeping Tom, Dorothy Ashby, Doug E. Fresh and Tonedeff. Those roots explain a lot about how Rahzel arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dilated Peoples, EPMD, Craig Mack, Pete Rock and Boogie Down Productions, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Crystal Method, Biz Markie, BeardyMan, Mike Patton and Medúlla, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 41 connections around Rahzel, reaching back through Peeping Tom and forward to The Crystal Method. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
