Simian Mobile Disco

Tech house
Tech house

Simian Mobile Disco is a Tech house act. Their sound grew out of Silver Apples, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Cocteau Twins, Iannis Xenakis and Pauline Oliveros. Those roots explain a lot about how Simian Mobile Disco arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Felix da Housecat, Fischerspooner, Tiga, The Presets and Midnight Juggernauts, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Muse, Klaxons, The Go! Team, Air and Super Furry Animals, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 48 connections around Simian Mobile Disco, reaching back through Silver Apples and forward to Muse. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
