Suede is a Rap act. Their sound grew out of Roxy Music, Neil Tennant, Siouxsie Sioux, Gwenno Saunders and Hounds of Love. Those roots explain a lot about how Suede arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Manic Street Preachers, Elastica, Shed Seven, Mansun and James, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Libertines, Counting Crows, Apoptygma Berzerk, Elastica and Flying Saucer Attack, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 53 connections around Suede, reaching back through Roxy Music and forward to The Libertines.
