Allie X is a Synth-pop act. Their sound grew out of Arthur Russell, Björk, Kate Bush, Lady Gaga and Céline Dion. Those roots explain a lot about how Allie X arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Marina, Rose Gray, Rina Sawayama, Kim Petras and Natalia Kills, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Troye Sivan, Vicetone, Mitski, Ellie Goulding and Chvrches, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 40 connections around Allie X, reaching back through Arthur Russell and forward to Troye Sivan.
