The Seekers is a Folk act. Their sound grew out of Malvina Reynolds, Australian Crawl, Dusty Springfield, Tom Paxton and Art Garfunkel. Those roots explain a lot about how The Seekers arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Herman's Hermits, Sandie Shaw, Cliff Richard, The New Seekers and Manfred Mann, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Paul Simon, José Feliciano, The Cyrkle and The New Seekers, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 38 connections around The Seekers, reaching back through Malvina Reynolds and forward to Paul Simon.
