Thursday is a Hardcore punk act. Their sound grew out of Pierce the Veil, Victory Records, Heroin, Rival Schools and Drive Like Jehu. Those roots explain a lot about how Thursday arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Circa Survive, The Used, Cursive, The Blood Brothers and Pencey Prep, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Funeral for a Friend, Pierce the Veil, Cancer Bats, Brand New and Deafheaven, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 49 connections around Thursday, reaching back through Pierce the Veil and forward to Funeral for a Friend.
