Ville Valo is a Rock act. Their sound grew out of Annie's Song, Lauri Ylönen, Zetra, Tuomari Nurmio and Rauli Badding Somerjoki. Those roots explain a lot about how Ville Valo arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as HIM, Entwine, Samuli Putro, Apulanta and Popeda, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Apocalyptica, Anathema, Bloodhound Gang, Cradle of Filth and Lullacry, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 40 connections around Ville Valo, reaching back through Annie's Song and forward to Apocalyptica.
