Cradle of Filth is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Cancer, Funeral, Hecate Enthroned, Borknagar and Expurse of Sodomy. Those roots explain a lot about how Cradle of Filth arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child, Satyricon, Moonspell and Marduk, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Cries of the Past, Criminal, Nachtmystium, Demonic Resurrection and Mortiis, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 70 connections around Cradle of Filth, reaching back through Cancer and forward to Cries of the Past. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
