White Lies is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of dEUS, The Maccabees, Jamie T, Laura Marling and Jay Reatard. Those roots explain a lot about how White Lies arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Editors, Foals, Spector, The Vaccines and The Boxer Rebellion, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Courteeners and Biffy Clyro, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 49 connections around White Lies, reaching back through dEUS and forward to The Courteeners. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
