YG Marley is a Reggae act. Their sound grew out of Drake, Bob Marley, Rohan Marley and Lauryn Hill. Those roots explain a lot about how YG Marley arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Alborosie, Collie Buddz, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Original Koffee and Wayne Wonder, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Busta Rhymes, Chloe Bailey, Davido and Coco Jones, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around YG Marley, reaching back through Drake and forward to Busta Rhymes. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
