ANOHNI

Electronic

ANOHNI is a Electronic act. Their sound grew out of Nina Simone, Oneohtrix Point Never, Hudson Mohawke, Yazoo and Kate Bush. Those roots explain a lot about how ANOHNI arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Perfume Genius, Arca, Julia Holter, The Knife and Kelsey Lu, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into These New Puritans and Hercules & Love Affair, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 33 connections around ANOHNI, reaching back through Nina Simone and forward to These New Puritans. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
