Charly García

Progressive rock
Progressive rockRock

Charly García is a Progressive rock and Rock act. Their sound grew out of Luis Alberto Spinetta, Gustavo Cerati, Mercedes Sosa, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Those roots explain a lot about how Charly García arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Serú Girán, Sui Generis, La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros, Luis Alberto Spinetta and Los Abuelos de la Nada, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Fito Páez, Los Abuelos de la Nada, Camilo, Los Tipitos and Conociendo Rusia, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 41 connections around Charly García, reaching back through Luis Alberto Spinetta and forward to Fito Páez. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
