Nothingface is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Jane's Addiction, Korn and Pearl Jam. Those roots explain a lot about how Nothingface arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as 40 Below Summer, Dry Kill Logic, Spineshank, Coal Chamber and Taproot, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Bleed and Hellyeah, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 37 connections around Nothingface, reaching back through Soundgarden and forward to Bleed. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Nothingface was an American nu metal band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1994. Their best-known and most prolific line-up consisted of Matt Holt (vocals), Tom Maxwell (guitar), Bill Gaal (bass) and Chris Houck (drums). They disbanded in 2004, only to reform the following year, reuniting with Gaal and Houck, and then disband four years later. In 2017, singer Holt died from a degenerative disease.
