Korn is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of HO99O9, Sumerian Records, Troy Van Leeuwen, John Feldmann and Low Rider. Those roots explain a lot about how Korn arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Coal Chamber, Mudvayne, Snot, Primer 55 and Deftones, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Kaoru, Lightbulb Sun, The Roots of Sepultura, Split Chain and Moodring, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 112 connections around Korn, reaching back through HO99O9 and forward to Kaoru. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
