The Rocket Summer is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Weezer, He Is We, Relient K, Pavement and Archers of Loaf. Those roots explain a lot about how The Rocket Summer arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Mae, Jack's Mannequin, The Classic Crime, Copeland and The Early November, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Phantom Planet, Paramore, Jack's Mannequin, Relient K and Jeremy Davis, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 51 connections around The Rocket Summer, reaching back through Weezer and forward to Phantom Planet. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
