Rock City is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of The Beatles, The Yardbirds, The Who, Alex Chilton and 112. Those roots explain a lot about how Rock City arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Flo Rida, Nico & Vinz, Iyaz, Taio Cruz and Sean Kingston, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Elliott Smith, Beck, R.E.M., Teenage Fanclub and Pixies, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 42 connections around Rock City, reaching back through The Beatles and forward to Elliott Smith. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
