Sigur Rós is a Post-rock act. Their sound grew out of For a Minor Reflection, Valgeir Sigurðsson, East Forest, GusGus and Max Richter. Those roots explain a lot about how Sigur Rós arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Explosions in the Sky, Mono, A Silver Mt. Zion, Ólafur Arnalds and Caspian, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Parannoul, Starset, Chicane, Jeniferever and The Boxer Rebellion, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 59 connections around Sigur Rós, reaching back through For a Minor Reflection and forward to Parannoul.
