St. Lucia is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of The Knocks, Boyz II Men, Michael Jackson, Sting and Phil Collins. Those roots explain a lot about how St. Lucia arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Atlas Genius, Roosevelt, Penguin Prison, Miami Horror and RAC, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Foster the People, Passion Pit and Charli XCX, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 42 connections around St. Lucia, reaching back through The Knocks and forward to Foster the People. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
