Psychedelic rock
Psychedelic rock

The 13th Floor Elevators is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of Bob Dylan. Those roots explain a lot about how The 13th Floor Elevators arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ultimate Spinach, Kaleidoscope, Roky Erickson, Jefferson Airplane and The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Angry Samoans, The Black Angels, Big Brother and the Holding Company, The Telescopes and Fred Cole, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around The 13th Floor Elevators, reaching back through Bob Dylan and forward to Angry Samoans. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
