◇ image via WikipediaThe Delfonics
The Delfonics is a Rhythm and blues act. Their sound grew out of Little Anthony & the Imperials, The Five Satins, Ray, Goodman & Brown, Damon Harris and The Chi-Lites. Those roots explain a lot about how The Delfonics arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Stylistics, Bloodstone, Blue Magic, The Intruders and The Dells, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Bridgit Mendler, Chicano Batman, Swing Out Sister, Connie Stevens and New Kids on the Block, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 62 connections around The Delfonics, reaching back through Little Anthony & the Imperials and forward to Bridgit Mendler.
