The Royal Concept is a Dance-pop and Indie rock act. Their catalogue also touches Synth-pop. Their sound grew out of MisterWives. Those roots explain a lot about how The Royal Concept arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Smallpools, Youngblood Hawke, Atlas Genius, Rock Mafia and Animal Kingdom, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Wombats, American Authors, MisterWives and Switchfoot, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 30 connections around The Royal Concept, reaching back through MisterWives and forward to The Wombats. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
