Angelfish is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of The Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, Blondie and Cocteau Twins. Those roots explain a lot about how Angelfish arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Die So Fluid, Jack Off Jill, Garbage, Queen Adreena and Veruca Salt, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Garbage, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 31 connections around Angelfish, reaching back through The Velvet Underground and forward to Garbage. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Angelfish was a short-lived early-1990s Scottish alternative rock group originating from Edinburgh, Scotland, formed as a side-project to Scottish group Goodbye Mr Mackenzie, after keyboardist and backing vocalist Shirley Manson was signed as a solo artist to circumvent the Mackenzies' existing record contract.
