Belly is a Contemporary R&B and Trap act. Their sound grew out of Catherine Wheel, Jewel, Love Inc., K.Maro and L7. Those roots explain a lot about how Belly arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Throwing Muses, Blake Babies, Veruca Salt, Luscious Jackson and The Lemonheads, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Weekend, Buffalo Tom, Bif Naked, L7 and The Weeknd, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 49 connections around Belly, reaching back through Catherine Wheel and forward to Weekend.
