Curve is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Republica, Eurythmics, Patti Smith, Nico and Siouxsie and the Banshees. Those roots explain a lot about how Curve arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Adorable, Lush, Catherine Wheel, Chapterhouse and Swervedriver, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Future Sound of London, Recoil, Scylla, Leftfield and Alison's Halo, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 58 connections around Curve, reaching back through Republica and forward to The Future Sound of London. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Curve were an English alternative rock and electronic music duo from London, formed in 1990 and dissolved in 2005. The band consisted of Toni Halliday and Dean Garcia. Halliday wrote the lyrics of their songs and they both contributed to songwriting. Producer Alan Moulder was a prominent collaborator who helped shape their blend of heavy beats and densely layered guitar tracks set against Halliday's vocals.
