Edan is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Since I Left You. Those roots explain a lot about how Edan arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Company Flow, Dr. Octagon, El-P, Mr. Lif and Hieroglyphics, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Kool Keith, DJ Format, Blu, Cut Chemist and Mr. Lif, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 45 connections around Edan, reaching back through Since I Left You and forward to Kool Keith. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
