Fatlip is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Chali 2na and Krayzie Bone. Those roots explain a lot about how Fatlip arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Dilated Peoples, People Under the Stairs, Hieroglyphics and Jurassic 5, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into L.A. Symphony, Bran Van 3000, Ludacris, The Chemical Brothers and Jazz Liberatorz, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 47 connections around Fatlip, reaching back through Chali 2na and forward to L.A. Symphony. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
