Florence Welch is a Indie rock act. Their sound grew out of Maggie Rogers, AURORA, Grace Slick, Alanis Morissette and Patti Smith. Those roots explain a lot about how Florence Welch arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Florence + the Machine and Rox, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Drake, Amy Winehouse, Annie Lennox, The Rolling Stones and Dave Grohl, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around Florence Welch, reaching back through Maggie Rogers and forward to Drake.
