Imani Coppola

Imani Coppola is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Digable Planets, The Doors, Sarah McLachlan and Gnarls Barkley. Those roots explain a lot about how Imani Coppola arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Little Jackie, Jewel, TLC, Luscious Jackson and Toni Braxton, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Rachel Platten, Meghan Trainor, Blackalicious, Alice Smith and Baha Men, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 35 connections around Imani Coppola, reaching back through Digable Planets and forward to Rachel Platten. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
