TLC is a Contemporary R&B and Hip hop act. Their catalogue also touches House and Pop. Their sound grew out of What Have You Done for Me Lately, Kandi Burruss, Danny O'Donoghue, New Edition and LaTavia Roberson. Those roots explain a lot about how TLC arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Aaliyah, SWV, Mary J. Blige, Destiny's Child and En Vogue, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Hannah Diamond, Bad Gyal, Chloe Bailey, Taller in More Ways and The Writing's on the Wall, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 94 connections around TLC, reaching back through What Have You Done for Me Lately and forward to Hannah Diamond.
