Ladysmith Black Mambazo

Ladysmith Black Mambazo is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Des'ree, Hugh Masekela, Nico & Vinz, Paul Simon and The Winans. They run in the same orbit as Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela, Orchestra Baobab, Amadou & Mariam and Baaba Maal, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Manu Dibango, Dan Croll, Dolly Parton, Cat Stevens and B*Witched, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 32 connections around Ladysmith Black Mambazo, reaching back through Des'ree and forward to Manu Dibango.
