Spacemen 3 is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of The Stooges, Suicide, The Velvet Underground, Sun Dial and Silver Apples. Those roots explain a lot about how Spacemen 3 arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Spiritualized, Loop, Sonic Boom, Bardo Pond and Spectrum, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Fuck Buttons, The Warlocks, No Joy, Air Formation and Galaxie 500, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 50 connections around Spacemen 3, reaching back through The Stooges and forward to Fuck Buttons.
