◇ image via WikipediaStromae
Stromae is a Electronic and Electropop act. Their catalogue also touches Hip hop and Synth-pop. Their sound grew out of Aya Nakamura, Angèle, Booba, Paul Kalkbrenner and Sho Madjozi. Those roots explain a lot about how Stromae arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hoshi, Jain, Zaho de Sagazan, Calogero and Kendji Girac, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Lorde, Major Lazer, Ghali, Grace Jones and Diplo, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 50 connections around Stromae, reaching back through Aya Nakamura and forward to Lorde.
