Alternative rock
Alternative rockRhythm and bluesRock

Elton John is a Alternative rock and Rhythm and blues act. Their catalogue also touches Rock. Their sound grew out of Kiki Dee, Tekno, Dua Lipa, 12 Memories and Simon Dupree and the Big Sound. Those roots explain a lot about how Elton John arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, Phil Collins, Wings and Paul McCartney & Wings, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Seal, Charlie Puth, Faith Hill, Eels and Sam Ryder, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 254 connections around Elton John, reaching back through Kiki Dee and forward to Seal. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
