The Gathering

Rap
Rap

The Gathering is a Rap act. Their sound grew out of Hellhammer, Kristoffer Rygg, Junkie XL, Anneke van Giersbergen and Paradise Lost. Those roots explain a lot about how The Gathering arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Tristania, Anathema, Therion, Tiamat and After Forever, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Demonic Resurrection, Angellore, Nightwish, After Forever and Lacuna Coil, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 34 connections around The Gathering, reaching back through Hellhammer and forward to Demonic Resurrection. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
