Tom Robinson

Punk rock
Punk rock

Tom Robinson is a Punk rock act. Their sound grew out of Ray Davies, Udo Lindenberg, Kiki Dee, Alexis Korner and Sex Pistols. Those roots explain a lot about how Tom Robinson arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Tom Robinson Band, Squeeze, Joe Jackson, The Undertones and Adam and the Ants, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Stoney, Billy Bragg, Elton John, Peter Gabriel and A Scarcity of Miracles, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 37 connections around Tom Robinson, reaching back through Ray Davies and forward to Stoney. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
